MM2S007: Season 1, Episode 7 By: Ken Boone My friends on the other side of the aisle are in a Civil War. That seems to happen every time they lose. Who can forget their autopsy, conducted by former RNC Chair Reince Preibus? And who can forget the former Louisana Governor, Bobby Jindel saying that he was tired of belonging to “The Stupid Party”… or something like that? They seem to have forgotten about the autopsy, Preibus, and of course Jindel! Well, they lost again and they’ve begun finger-pointing AGAIN! These poor bastards couldn’t even completely pull of an impeachment defense where the outcome surprised no one! Did you see that? The spineless ones are attacking the few with character. But it doesn’t end there. Now, the Grim Reaper is about to come to blows with the Counter Puncher (Chuckle). And it seems as tough, initially, the spineless ones are backing the Counter Puncher. And he’s the one that cost them the whole shebang! Even I feel sorry for them. Just to be clear, as much as I would like to, I’m not gloating. We have too much work to do before our side can take a victory lap. The new administration has only been in office for three weeks and the media is already starting to give us grief. But I am a little curious about the intestinal makeup of the spineless ones. In an earlier episode, I shed a little light on the perceived toughness of our friends on the other side. Particularly, my opinion that they recruited individuals who had the meanest scowls, whether they were true tough guys or not. In time we learned that they weren’t so tough. You saw how they folded like deck chairs when the Counter Puncher rolled through their party. He rolled into town claiming to be the only one who could fix what was broken in this country. The problem was, he made things worse. Now, I won’t rehash every screw up. But I will remind you that he aimed his mob on his most loyal supplicant, the former Vice President, after verbally emasculating him. At least the Hoosier Hero did the right thing in the end, although that could have easily been a Samson Moment. And the former VP’s payoff is a lousy podcast for a right-wing dumping ground (I mean think tank). Let’s get to the heart of the matter. I’ll just throw this question out there: “Why are they afraid of their leader”? I know the standard answer – his base! Give me a break! I don’t want to tell them how to do their jobs, but I will give with them one observation. That base is up for grabs! That’s right… these people are there for the taking. I’m not talking about the supremacists. They are just looking to fight a war against the government. A war they are destined to lose. And there are not 74 million of them out there. No way, no how! I’m talking about the otherwise solid-ass citizens among them. The ones who are four times as likely to have filed for bankruptcy, had unpaid taxes, or had their houses foreclosed on. I’m not making this up. A recent story in the Washington Post by Todd C. Frankel highlights the fact the that the majority of people arrested for rioting in the Capitol had a history of financial trouble. Nearly 60% of them fall in that category. These are people who fell for the aspirational BS No. 45 was selling. Some even thought that he was going to personally get them out of the financial holes they were in. But here’s the sad truth – as a New Yorker who has studied this guy for well over 30 years, I can tell you that he only pays off one old lady’s farm per lifetime. Look it up! And why do I say that these people are there for the taking? They are victims of all your “fiscally responsible” policies that you’ve been spouting off every time you’re not in power. You made him possible. You made him relevant. You made him powerful. And you pissed off a lot of your constituents! Friends on the right, you’ve perpetuated the notion that your guy is a tough guy – even someone acting like a mob boss. That couldn’t be any further from the truth. Again, as a former New Yorker, I can tell you that most mob bosses have dirt under their fingernails. They made their bones by doing the dirty work on the way up the ladder. This guy is adept at getting others to dirty his wet work. And when one person says no, he simply sics someone on them for being disobedient. I think he learned that trick from Putin. He’s more like Tom Sawyer than Al Capone! But all’s not lost. You can make things right by denouncing this guy. Withstand the inevitable backlash. Be ready to trade punches for a few rounds. I guaranty you he will back down! Then you can slowly rebuild your party but do so with compassion and humanity. And please… don’t fall for another reality TV personality. Oh, by the way, I was watching TV this morning when I saw a report that one of the former president’s former Atlantic City casinos was just imploded. I know that he is no longer owner of the property, but I’d be curious to know if his base plans to seek vengeance on anyone involved in this slight on their leader.
