Podcast Blog Post By: Ken Boone With almost a month of retirement under my belt, things are going pretty well for me. However, I'm deeply concerned about Congress and the Administration dragging their feet when it comes to helping the 50 million Americans without work through no fault of their own. Taking a look at my Facebook newsfeed, I noticed that a lot of my friends and family are using this platform to express their opinions on the events of the day. My son Kenny is especially vocal. And inspiring. His #NotASuspect video has topped 1,000 views and climbing! I see a podcast in his future. I feel kind of bad since I've been using social media solely as a means of promoting my latest projects. My call to action typically consists of me asking people to like, and share my podcasts and blog posts. I could, and should, being doing so much more. The podcasts I produce are created for the benefit of others. Celia's show, "ISO Peace & Healing", provides hope and encouragement. Angel's show, "Can I Say Something", stokes her passions for activism and doing the next right thing. I can't wait to see what issues Kenny will take on with his upcoming podcast! Being a retiree makes me a proud member of AARP. I read the articles in their magazine. I sign their online petitions. The only thing I haven't done yet was to take advantage of their great discounts! But, hey, it will at least give me something to look to. That, and answering the call to really get involved. Now that my time is mine, and my heart function has returned to normal, I can turn my attention to the causes and concerns of others. I'll continue to promote my projects, but going forward, I'll respond the calls to action of others whose opinions are important to you and me! But wait... there's more!

By: Ken Boone I have two "kids". I use quotes because the younger of the two is my son, who is 30-years-old. It's supposed to be rude to reveal a woman's age, so I'll just say that my daughter is slightly older than my son, and leave it at that. I sired my son, Kenny. I also raised him as a single parent from the time he was 13. I was adopted by my daughter Angel a couple of years ago. While they've yet to meet, I'm sure they will get along just fine. You see, they both have a passion for attacking injustice through words and action. A couple of weeks ago, Kenny shared a touching one-minute video titled "Not a Suspect". It features images of Kenny doing his daily "thing", and is narrated by his super bright 6-year-old daughter, Amina. To date, it's garnered almost 950 views. It's totally viral-worthy, but that's a whole other story. Along with my wife, Celia, and me, Angel hosts a bi-weekly podcast on the Descant Music & Media Group Network titled "Can I Say Something". It centers on self-improvement with a focus on recovery. Lately, Angel has taken up the cause for racial and gender justice, recording back-to-back hard hitting episodes denouncing hatred and bigotry. Working as the technical guy, I have the honor of being let in to the thought patterns of this two highly passionate people. I'm working to create a podcast featuring Kenny and his activist friends and allies. I'm also working to plug Angel into the network of recovery podcasters out there. Needless to say, my kids are a source of great joy. They are also provoking my thoughts. Through their actions, I find that I ask myself, am I doing enough to make the world a better place? It pisses me off that the answer comes back, HELL NO! To make things right, I decided to make some changes. The first change was to put my blog, "From Grievance to Gratitude" on pause. That pause may be permanent, because it's getting harder to find things to gripe about. Also, I'm trying to make it less about me. Which leads me to my second change. I started the blog you are now reading! It's different in that it will focus on our little media group and how we use our collective voices for the greater good. My wife, Celia, and kids are always using their forums (podcasts, social media, and blogs) to express outrage over injustice, share tips on gaining inner peace, and promote physical and spiritual health. It's time for me to join the party. I too have an activism gene that's been laying dormant for far too long. And I will use this blog, as well as my podcast to bring my opinions front and center. I will also make these pages available to any like-minded individuals out there who need a place to express themselves. That goes for our podcast network as well. So join us, because we have "Much More to Say"! But wait... there's more!
